Environmental Code of Conduct
Marina di San Lorenzo S.r.l has always considered it a priority to protect and safeguard the environment and in particular the marine ecosystem with the ultimate aim of guaranteeing its users and, more generally, all those who use the port and related services an adequate level of environmental quality in the area.
The Marina di San Lorenzo marina has been awarded the Blue Flag every year since 2011, an environmental award given by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a non-profit international non-governmental organisation present in 60 countries.
In order to obtain the Blue Flag, the marina must comply with a number of criteria concerning information, education and environmental management, safety and services as well as water quality. This Environmental Code of Conduct aims to suggest to you, the users, some rules to adopt for a respectful behaviour towards the environment:
Delivery of hazardous waste
An ecological island is available for the delivery of waste produced by users and deriving from boat maintenance activities, such as: lead batteries, oil filters, exhausted oils, materials contaminated by dangerous substances, packaging containing residues of dangerous substances. This area, which is adequately fenced, paved and equipped with a roof and containment basins in order to prevent any spillage on the ground, is constantly locked: for the disposal of waste, users can directly contact the moorers or the reception desk. All containers are identified by signs indicating the type of waste to be delivered. It is fundamental to pay attention in handling all types of hazardous waste and in dividing waste correctly, placing them in the appropriate containers: if you have any doubts or needs, please contact our staff, who will be happy to assist you in carrying out the unloading operations correctly.
Separate waste collection
Waste collected separately in the port area is: paper and cardboard, plastic, glass and cans. For the collection of these types of waste, lots of containers are placed along the avenues: bins for the collection of non-differentiated solid urban waste; green bins for the collection of glass; yellow bins for the collection of plastic and cans, blue bins for the collection of paper and brown bins for organic waste. All containers are identified by signs indicating the type of waste to be delivered. As in the case of hazardous waste, it is also important to sort the waste correctly and place it in the appropriate containers: if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our staff.
Safeguarding of waterways
Do not discharge any kind of solid or liquid waste into the water!
The "pump out" collection service located near the petrol station is free of charge for the disposal of black water from boats, while bilge water should be referred to the shipyards.
Marine parks and protected areas
The environmentally aware yachtsman knows that he must follow the instructions given by the authorities responsible for managing these areas. In general, recreational boating is not prevented, but rather regulated. Remember that the more you respect the environment, the simpler and less onerous the regulations of marine parks will be.
Washing and repairing
For boat repairs refer to shipyards and companies authorised by the authorities; To keep the boat clean, use specific biodegradable detergents and make sure that "ecological" antifouling is used for hull maintenance.
We look forward to your cooperation and wish you a pleasant stay in our hotel.
